Counselling for Adults in Allerton Bywater, Malton & Pocklington

A warm, supportive space to talk through what’s on your mind — at your own pace

Hello, I’m Louise. I offer counselling for adults who may be struggling with anxiety, grief, emotional overwhelm, or the impact of life’s challenges.

I work from Allerton Bywater, Malton and Pocklington, and also offer online sessions if you would prefer to access support from home.

At times, life can feel heavy, confusing, or difficult to manage alone. You might be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed, or trying to make sense of a loss or change in your life.

Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to face it on your own.

I support adults with a range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:

  • Anxiety and constant worry
  • Low mood or depression
  • Bereavement and grief
  • Trauma or difficult past experiences
  • Living with or adjusting to health conditions
  • Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected

I am a BACP-registered counsellor with over 20 years’ experience working within the NHS, including acute and hospice care.

My approach is integrative and person-centred, meaning I adapt the way I work to suit you as an individual.

I offer in-person counselling in Allerton Bywater, Malton and Pocklington, and support clients from surrounding areas including Castleford, Leeds and Doncaster.

I also offer online counselling across the UK.

About Me

Taking the step to reach out for support can feel daunting, but it’s also incredibly brave. I’m a warm, compassionate BACP registered counsellor, and I’m here to offer you a space where you can feel truly heard, understood and supported.

Integrating 20 Years of Compassionate Nursing into Counselling

I am a BACP-registered counsellor with over 20 years’ experience working within the NHS, including roles in acute and hospice care. Through this work, I have supported individuals facing a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, often during some of the most difficult times in their lives.

My experience has given me a deep understanding of how complex and overwhelming life can sometimes feel, and how important it is to have a safe, supportive space to talk.

I work in an integrative and person-centred way, which means I tailor my approach to suit you as an individual. I believe that each person’s experience is unique, and I will work alongside you at your own pace, in a way that feels comfortable and right for you.

My aim is to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and supported.

My Approach

Therapy That Adapts to You

No two stories are the same — that’s why I tailor therapy to suit you, your pace, and what matters most to you. Rather than a one size fits all approach, I see therapy as a collaborative, evolving process where we work together to explore what you need, moment by moment.

To support your unique journey, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including:

Person-Centred Therapy – creating a warm, non-judgemental space where you feel truly heard and accepted.

Psychodynamic Theory – helping you understand how past experiences may still be influencing your present

Compassion-Focused Approaches – supporting you to quieten self-criticism and build a more caring, supportive relationship with yourself.

Mindfulness & Grounding Techniques – building tools to support emotional regulation, calm, and self-awareness.

Together, we’ll shape a way of working that feels thoughtful, flexible, and right for where you are in your journey.
